quiz, and some offer some topics for discussion. Take a look! ESLPod.com creates and distributes free and easy-to-use digital audio-files for learning English. Their group of volunteers setup and record real-life situations, at a slow speed and using common phrases and expressions. They currently have 284+ files available for listening. Exam English. specialises in providing information and free practice materials for a variety of English language exams including IELTS, TOEFL and the range of Cambridge exams. The practice materials are mostly Flash based and are interactive. They test a range of skills and grammar, and you get the results at the end as well as the chance to review your answers. REPORTS VOA Special English - Special English uses a vocabulary of 1500 words, spoken in short, simple sentences with no idioms, at about two-thirds the speed of standard English. The broadcasts include ten-minute news segments, alternating with features about various topics including: science, development, agriculture, environment, news events, American idioms or culture, history, medicine, space, important people, and short stories. Wordmaster is a wonderful site from the BBC. You’re shown a sentence with a word missing (indicated by a blank). Then you have to click on an on-screen keyboard to type the correct word “hangman” style. You can ask for clues, and you’re competing against the clock. You can also choose various levels of difficulty, and the game has thousands of words.
