Information Technology Programs

The High School of Computers and Technology offers CTE courses in Information Technology. The pathways offered are IT Support and Services and Software Development.
 
What does this mean?
 

Incoming freshman students at HSCT choose one of two tracks at the end of 9th grade: IT Support Services or Software Development.

 

Information Technology Support and Services Track:

  • Foundational Skills: Students build the foundational skills needed to enter a career in Information Technology.
  • IT Deployment: Includes implementing computer systems and software, providing technical assistance, and managing information systems.
  • Critical Success: Successful IT deployment involves the implementation of computer systems and software, provision of technical assistance, creation of technical documentation, and management of information systems.
  • High Demand: People with expertise in Information Support and Services are in high demand for a variety of positions in organizations of all sizes and types.
 

Software Development Track:

  • Programming Skills: Students learn various programming languages and software development methodologies.
  • Project Management: Includes managing software projects from conception to deployment.
  • Application Development: Focuses on developing applications for different platforms and ensuring their functionality and security.
  • Career Opportunities: Graduates are prepared for roles in software engineering, application development, and other related fields.
